Tryouts for Jersey City Capitals Squirts, Pee Wees, Bantams, and 18U will be held at the Rich Korpi Ice Rink located behind Bayonne High School, accessed off of Avenue A and 27th Street in Bayonne in March and April 2025.
Mite Evaluations - Tuesday, March 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The Capitals will be holding evaluations for Mite players. For this year, Mites (8U) include 2017, 2018, 2019 (and possibly 2020) birth years.
Tryouts times & teams
Squirts - Monday, March 24 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Tuesday, March 25 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. There will be two dates for tryouts. The Capitals will be looking to select 2 Squirt teams. For this year, Squirts (10U) include 2015 and 2016 birth years.
Pee Wees - Monday, March 24 from 7:45 PM to 8:45 PM and Tuesday, March 25 7:45 PM to 8:45 PM. There will be two dates for tryouts. The Capitals will be looking to select 2 PW teams. For this year, Pee Wee (12U) include 2013 and 2014 birth years.
Bantams - Monday, April 14 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM and Monday, April 21 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM. There will be two dates for tryouts. We are looking to select one Bantam team. For this year, Bantam(14U) include 2011 and 2012 birth years.
18U - Monday, April 14 from 8:00 to 9:15 PM and Monday, April 21 from 8:00 to 9:15 PM. For this year, 18U include 2007 and 2008 birth years.
Team selection
Coaches from within the organization that will be evaluating players at the tryouts. After the tryouts, those coaches along with the Head Coach will select each team.
Players selected for Squirt and Pee Wee teams will be notified by email on Wednesday, March 26.
Players selected for Bantam and 18U teams will be notified by email no later than Monday, April 21.
For all teams at all levels, we encourage anyone interested in playing goalie to come to the tryouts in goalie gear. Goalies who are new to our program and are selected for our teams will be offered a discounted tuition.
Tryout requirements
All players must have a USA Hockey number. For existing Capital players the current USA Hockey number used for the 2024-2025 season is fine. For players coming from outside the Capitals, please provide USA Hockey number at tryout.
Reminder for tryout times - We suggest that you are dressed and ready to go on ice 15 minutes prior to your ice time, again:
